The Thinkery Project

is about rethinking topics society often deems taboo. Founded on the unwavering belief that it takes courage to provoke our own selves and others to reconsider conventional ways of thinking, we stand with an open heart and an open mind to broach stigmatized subjects.

In a world dominated by fast-thinking and fast-fashion, we position ourselves as a slow and intentional collective, where you can feel represented, seen, and heard.

But what does all that mean?

We are guided by inspiring change through representation and advocacy while navigating the crossroads of fashion and activism. We have embraced the potentiality of fashion as a form of communication, advocacy, and protest. As one of the ways to reinforce our identity, express representation, and encourage empowerment.

Every piece in our collection is designed to be a purposeful statement with the underlying intention that when you wear it, you are actively amplifying voices that truly deserve to be heard.

We know… We know… You might be wondering… “This is just another online shop selling tees”. But that’s not true!

Let us start by saying: we aim to be part of the change!

We were born with a clear purpose in mind: to boldly position ourselves on important issues and shed light on the seemingly obvious but often overlooked truths. Our belief in fashion goes beyond mere aesthetics: it is about real people, genuine struggles, and daily fights. It is about sending a message, loud and clear.

We are here to encourage self-reflection, to resist conventions, and to inspire and promote meaningful conversations that challenge the status quo.

We know we are not alone here…

We understand that the change begins within - with a willingness to learn and unlearn, to reevaluate our thinking, our choices, and our beliefs. We trust in a process of daily self-criticism for the deconstruction of sexism, LGBTphobias, racism, xenophobia, ableism, fascism, colonialism, and prejudice.

While we believe in the transformative power each of us has to be an agent of change and an ally, we understand that social justice is a collective fight. The transformative power of collective action allows us to break through structures rooted in systemic discrimination and structural inequity. That is why we need you to stand up for things you care about!

We strive to create a space for connecting with like-minded individuals, to express our true selves, and to share our diverse stories and experiences, acknowledging our vulnerabilities but also celebrating our uniqueness, beauty, entirety, and strength. We foster a community to come together to transform society.

Thoughts Unboxed

Knowledge is a potent and formidable force. A well-informed and intellectually curious person is empowered to defy the status quo, question societal norms, and advocate for change effectively.

For this reason, we consider our blog - Thoughts Unboxed - a key component of The Thinkery Project. We aim to create a safe space for promoting relevant dialogues and encourage deep reflection to withstand conventional thinking through sharing thought-provoking content.

The Heart Behind

Hello there! Bárbara here. I thought you would be curious to know a little about the person behind all this. I promise will be short!

I have always felt a strong need to take a stand on issues that go against social justice. From my days studying History and Law, my time working closely with the Indigenous Peoples at the Ministry of Health in Brazil, to my long backpacking journeys across the globe, I couldn't ignore the pressing need of positioning myself on critical matters.

When I moved to Canada, I found myself wondering how to align my work with my calling. After some soul-searching, I found my path in the world of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Curiosity led me even to enroll in a Leadership DEI course. It became clear that every aspect of life is political - especially when you are a woman.

A person proudly wears a t-shirt saying I’m a Thinker, emphasizing the need to rethink oppressive social systems.
My aspiration for change is

a tribute, an appreciation, and a remembrance for those who came before us and paved the way, allowing us to be where we are today.

Acknowledging my privileges, I embrace the responsibility to use them consciously and intentionally, challenging ongoing inequities and changing the narrative of guilt - that often serves as a patriarchal control mechanism. To be apolitical or neutral is often an endorsement of the status quo, and it's our choice whether to perpetuate these cycles. I stand up for change.

The idea of The Thinkery Project started early-mid 2023 and it came from my desire to connect and join forces with fellow change-makers, leveraging my individual efforts for a collective impact. I invite you to join us in this movement for change! Become part of our community, aka, be a thinker! And welcome to The Thinkery Project!
